Shrinking office syndrome

Shrinking office space is one thing that people are complaining about, every where there is shrinkage. What do you think the best way could be.. Individuals with less space in office or shared space in office like hot seats? Some time its fun to be working like this but many a times the personal space meant to be for every individual is taken away.
