Pancha Bootha Sthalam

The five elements of nature are also known as Pancha Bhoota. In Ayurveda and Indian philosophy, the human body is also made up of these five elements. 

The five temples are one in Andhra Pradesh & and four in Tamil Nadu

The five temples
  • Ekambareswarar Temple (Tamil Nadu)
    Located in Kanchipuram, this temple represents the element of earth. The temple's sanctum sanctorum houses a Prithvi Lingam.
  • Jambukeshwarar Temple (Tamil Nadu)
    Located in Thiruvanaikaval, near Trichy, this temple represents the element of water. The temple houses a Varuna Lingam, also known as the Jambu Lingam. 
  • Arunachaleswara Temple (Tamil Nadu)
    Represents the element of fire. 
  • SriKalahasti Temple (Andhra Pradesh)
    Located in Srikalahasti, Andhra Pradesh, this temple represents the element of air. The temple houses a Vayu Lingam. 
  • Thillai Nataraja Temple (Tamil Nadu)
    Located in Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu, this temple represents the element of ether. The temple is home to the Natarajar Temple, which depicts Lord Shiva as a cosmic dancer.
